Celebrate Mental Health Day with ‘Ajuda’ • Introbiz

MHW Online presents Talking Mental Health Conference, providing you with 2 days of information and inspiration on all things mental health!

Following the fantastic success of our online events to motivate individuals during COVID-19, the MHW Online team have created an exciting online conference taking place over the week of World Mental Health Day!

The goal of World Mental Health Day is to help raise mental health awareness. Each of us can make a contribution to ensure that people dealing with problems concerning mental health can live better lives with dignity.

Every year one adult in four, along with one child in ten, will have a mental health issue. These conditions can profoundly affect literally millions of lives, affecting the capability of these individuals to make it through the day, to sustain relationships, and to maintain work.

The stigma attached to mental health causes a damaging, albeit ill-informed, attitude, making it more difficult for those affected to pursue help. According to UK estimates, only about one-fourth of those with mental health problems undergo ongoing treatment. By stark contrast, the vast majority of those affected with these problems are faced with a variety of issues, ranging from isolation to uncertainty on where to get help or information, to relying on the informal support of family, friends or colleagues.

The best way to deal with this stigma is through facts and a better understanding of mental health problems. From identifying the causes, pinpointing solutions, and ultimately recognising that we are really dealing with medical issues.

So what can we do to help?
Talking Mental Health is a National Conference that will be taking place to help people understand and recognise poor Mental Health and to make a difference.

We will have a range of key note speakers, talking about their own personal journeys with Mental Health Conditions, and sharing their recovery stories.

What is happening on the day?

Bulletin Contents – Self-Employment Support Scheme and furlough next steps; Economic Resilience Fund; COVID-19 Consumer Sentiment Tracker; Business Interruption Insurance; Test, Trace, Protect: employer guidance; Best Practice Guidance on working safely

Self-Employment Support Scheme extended and furlough next steps confirmed
The UK Government have announced updates on the Self-Employment Support Scheme and the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme.  Visit the Business Wales website for more details.

Economic Resilience Fund
The Welsh Government’s £500m Economic Resilience Fund (ERF) was established to plug the gaps in the support schemes already announced by the UK Government, including the Job Retention Scheme and the Self-Employed Income Support Scheme, which will guarantee 80% of people’s wages and income.

In its first week the £300m Economic Resilience Fund received almost 9,000 applications. As a result the Fund was paused to provide the Welsh Government with an opportunity to consider what further support businesses, charities and social enterprises need but the next phase will go live shortly.

The next £100m phase of the ERF has recently been announced with the eligibility criteria going live mid-June allowing businesses time to prepare before the fund opens to applications at the end of June. It’s important to note that Phase 2 will only commence when we have closed down the first phase which is why at this stage we can’t give a specific date.

In terms of eligibility, Phase 2 of the Fund will operate in the same way as Phase 1 but with an update to the micro scheme, which will enable limited companies who are not VAT registered to access the Fund, subject to meeting the wider eligibility criteria. Visit Business Wales for the latest information.

COVID-19 Consumer Sentiment Tracker
Visit Wales is collaborating with Visit Scotland and Visit England on this new consumer behaviour tracker.  It concentrates on Great Britain (GB) residents to assess their domestic holiday intentions for the remainder of 2020 and early 2021 and is being conducted weekly for three months. Results of the first wave of activity are available and covers:

Mood of the nation – a measure
Consumer confidence regarding taking a domestic short break/holiday and likelihood of when they will plan, book and take any break
Where in the UK that break may be, what type of accommodation they will use and how they plan to travel to the destination
What types of activity are they more or less likely to undertake at their destination of choice
More detailed analysis for Wales will be available on a monthly basis.

Business Interruption Insurance
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has issued an update on its legal action regarding business interruption insurance. Read the FCA press release here.

Test, Trace, Protect: guidance for employers
Test, Trace, Protect is the Welsh Government’s approach to testing and contact tracing which will help citizens of Wales to resume their normal lives gradually and safely.  Visit Business Wales  for more information.

Best Practice Guidance on working safely
We are consulting, via the Regional Tourism Fora, on best practice guidance for working safely in the visitor economy/tourism sector in Wales in preparation for any lifting of restrictions.  Any such lifting of restrictions will only happen in Wales when it is safe to do so and in line with the principles outlined in the Welsh Government roadmap to recovery Unlocking our society and economy: continuing the conversation.

In the meantime, a range of practical support and guidance for employers across various business areas is available on Business Wales – Keep Wales Safe at Work: Restarting and re-opening business.

Business Wales is providing businesses with tailored support and advice about dealing with coronavirus, from financial and supply chain planning to advice on staffing issues. We would advise Tourism businesses and stakeholders in Wales wanting specific guidance to visit the Business Wales website or call Business Wales helpline on 03000 6 03000, and to regularly visit the Public Health Wales website for up-to-date public health information for you, your staff and your visitors.

Cardiff During Lockdown…

Whilst out on my 1 hour exercise in Cardiff on Sunday I stopped to take some pictures of Mill Lane in the City Centre and Mermaid Quay In Cardiff Bay. The sun was shining but both the city centre and the bay were warily quite as people in Cardiff were generally adhering to the Lockdown rules, at least as far as I could see!

Business LPA’s Cardiff

About business lasting powers of attorney

Why your business needs one…

All business owners, whether sole traders, partners or the directors of private companies should consider the simple option of drawing up a business lasting power of attorney Cardiff (Business LPA’s Cardiff).

The problems…

The problems about business lasting powers of attorney Cardiff (Business LPA’s Cardiff) are not having one in place can be devastating to a business, company or organisations.

The business lasting powers of attorney Cardiff, are used to empower a trusted relative or other person to step in to the business should the worst happen and one of the business owners, partners or directors cannot make it back to work due to an incapacitating illness or injury.
Planning a succession is a difficult but vital part of any business if it is to outlive the working life of the founder.

Even when a transition is planned such as at the retirement of an owner, partner or managing director the upheaval can bring many problems to the business.

These potential problems are small when compared to the disruption that can be caused by the unexpected loss of a business owner through illness or serious injury, even if the loss is only temporary.

The effects of this problem…

It might mean that no one else in the business is authorised to sign on the business bank account, so that suppliers cannot be paid or cash cannot even be withdrawn.
Businesses could also be prevented from entering contracts, paying invoices, authorising sales or buying stock.

Perhaps worst of all it could mean wages going unpaid with the added knock on effects that not be paid can cause for staff and their families.

The solutions…

Business lasting powers of attorney Cardiff (Business LPA’s Cardiff) are easy and cost effective to put in place and they normally authorise at least one person to sign on the business bank account should the need arise.

A business lasting power of attorney Cardiff (Business LPA Cardiff) only comes into force when it is required;

This could be in the event of a serious accident or something like a stroke causing the loss of mental capacity or even if a lesser injury is incurred, such as a broken leg, that could leave someone in hospital or unable to make the office, which could temporarily prevent someone from taking care of their own affairs.
Many viable businesses have failed to cope with the situations cause on by incapacitated owners, partners or directors and have failed, simply because no-one was authorised to sign on the business bank account and that could have been easily avoided.

Don’t let your business, company or organisation be a business that fails, or fails to protect itself when there is such an easy solutions!

Book a meeting with a specialist consultant today and get yourself set up with business lasting powers of attorney Cardiff ASAP.
