It seems Apple isn’t slowing down on new innovations. In a note to investors, as seen by MacRumors, renowned tech analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said the tech giant is working to launch a foldable iPhone in 2023. It’s been suggested that the iPhone will come with an eight-inch QHD+ flexible OLED display.

Kuo, reputed for accurately predicting new Apple products, expects that foldable smartphones will become ubiquitous among the major smartphone brands, with Samsung already leading the charge with the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Galaxy Z Flip 5G.

Apple could very well be the “biggest winner” in the foldable device trend, said Kuo. He also believes the upcoming iPhone could adopt a silver nanowire touch solution for its display, creating a “long-term competitive advantage” for Apple in the foldable device market. This display technology will help create future devices that support more than one fold.

This isn’t the first time Kuo has spoken about a foldable iPhone. Earlier this year, he had said Apple could be planning to launch “a foldable iPhone with a 7.5 to eight-inch display in 2023,” though it was dependent on Apple securing key technology and mass production capabilities.

Kuo predicts Apple will ship between 15 million and 20 million foldable iPhones in 2023, though he cautions the development has “not yet officially kicked off.”
