Lessons from Top Entrepreneurs

So Jarrod Glandt sits down and picks Grant Cardone’s brain for an hour.  What did I get out of it?  And what will you get out of it.  When I first started following Grant and listening to his workshops in the car everywhere I went, I had this feeling so many times that he was basically talking to me or like maybe he’s been secretly following me around or something.  Which obviously is not what was going on so what did that feeling mean?  It meant I wasn’t alone.  It meant that I’m not the only one out here looking for a better way.  So when you listen to this interview, before you go into it, ask yourself, what do you need from this.  Be open to hearing what Grant and Jarrod have to say to you.  Here’s what I got.  It was a whole lot.  Let’s go…

What’s the deal with haters?

People start hating on people when they are doing the things they know they can and should be doing yet for their own reasons won’t allow themselves to operate at that level.  For some I think it hurts them to see other operating at their full potential, especially when they know they’re not.  For others I think they are more threatened by success.  Their belief system is about limits and shortages so the more someone else has the less for them and since they see everything from the perspective of limits and shortages and since there’s only so much to go around they may even feel as if the more successful are stealing from them and they must be fought.  It’s sad.  And glorious.  Because when you start getting these kind of haters, it is definitely a sign you’re moving in the right direction.

What’s with all the work???

I feel best when I’m contributing.

If you have a problem with work, you have a problem with life.  Life is a game.  Work is play.  Your work space is your playground.  Seriously, what needs to shift in your mind to where you can get to a place where you can see work as play?

JARROD to GRANT:  “You have like zero zero scarcity like your mindset.”

What do you wish people knew about you as a business owner?

“The reason I’m having a hard time answering that question is I don’t think anyone’s going to believe it.”

At first it looked like we weren’t going to get the answer to this question and I was getting a bit disappointed, but…  Good news comes

On just being yourself:

“Sometimes you can’t be yourself YET, because you haven’t figured out who you are yet…   So anytime I’ve strayed from me (and that’s a little bit back to your question about what would I want people to know); look I’m just trying to I’m just trying to I’m just trying to be me.”

[EXERCISE #1:  Look back at a time where you’ve tried to be someone you’re not and it did more harm than good.]

I learned a very hard lesson about this during the second half of my first year in the car business.  The lesson was painfully clear:  The fastest way to piss off a customer is to do your best Grant Cardone impression.

How do you find out who you are?

What would your life be like if you were finally super comfortable in that skin jacket you call a body?  How will you feel when you own yourself completely?  What could you do if you became super confident about everything?

You got to find out who you are.  You got to find out who you are and all the stuff that you don’t like doing, it probably is the shovel you need to pick up and start digging.”

So when Grant says, “pay the price today so you can pay any price tomorrow,” he’s not limiting this to just money.  You know what the outcome looks like, you can see what your potential is and what your life will be like, but to get there, you have a price to pay.  And that price is typically doing a bunch of stuff you don’t want to do.

Discomfort is where you will meet the real you and where you will release the real you.

[EXERCISE #2:  What can you do DAILY that will get you uncomfortable and help release the real you.  Here’s three ideas if you’re in business and sales.  Exercise, role-play and cold call.  Can you find a way to incorporate these tree things into your daily routine?]

This is also how you gain immediate competitive advantages in the market by capitalizing on what your competition won’t or refuses to do.

  • When Grant was in his mid to late 20s he trained everyday for 50 minutes on a topic he didn’t even like but KNEW was vital to his success.
  • When Grant was 35, he started reading Barron’s and The Wall Street Journal to learn about finance and it felt like trying to read a foreign language.

The ability to push through when you want to quit is a skill that must be continually developed but it builds tremendous confidence.

Grant gives the secret to success with Cardone University:

  1. Learn the material as it is
  2. Get some wins with it as it is
  3. Start creating your own variations
[EXERCISE #3:  Whether you’re using our products or something else, as an individual, training on your own, this is the order of learning content.  If you’re skipping the middle step, adjust accordingly.  Manager’s this is how you want your people to study content however, keep in mind, this is NOT how you train the team.  There’s a whole different Rx for team training and development.]

The 2 Consequences of Confidence:

  1. Don’t need to copy other people’s stuff
  2. Don’t need to attack others to build your brand

What is money?

Insurance and proof.

Pay attention DAILY to your money.

[Exercise #4:  Let’s add looking at your money every morning to your list of uncomfortable things to do.  Did it increase, decrease or stay the same and if it didn’t increase, why?  What will you do today to add to and then multiply this money?  SIDE NOTE / WARNING:  Why would anyone suggest to you that you put your money somewhere and then forget it or not pay attention to it?]

Grant Cardone Net Worth 2020:  How important is it anyway?

In the interview Grant and Jarrod get into that a little bit and start bouncing around numbers but to Grant’s point, if you’re worried about your net worth and especially about Grant’s net worth, your attention is on the wrong stuff.

Grant has attention on legacy and the long game.  The net worther is stuck on some ego trip.  If you’re Googling “Grant Cardone Net Worth 2020” or “Grant Cardone Net Worth 2019” you have your attention on the wrong thing.

Grant:  I tell people what’s true for me.

This is how we all should operate.  The real questions should be:

  • When did you stop (telling people what’s true for you)?
  • Why did you stop?
  • Who convinced you to stop?

How to pay for sh*t:

  1. Don’t buy it if you can’t buy it twice
  2. Pay for it with passive income, not earned income
  3. Recognize it’s a stupid purchase

How to transition:

“Quit thinking & do it”

This is the muscle nobody talks about.  It’s literally a skill.  Quit thinking and do it.  Creation is a work in progress.  You have to see it.  Thoughts, ideas have no physical reality.  Do it.  Try it.  See what happens.  If it’s not right dump it quick.  You’re not going to make every shot you take.  Period.  300 batting average means you miss 70% of the time.

Life literally depends on you succeeding every day

So how do you create that “my life depends on winning” mindset?

  1. It’s a muscle you develop
  2. It also builds momentum, like a flywheel
  3. And then the threat

There needs to be a threat in the environment in order for somebody to be propelled to go…”

That uneasy feeling is actually healthy (PHEW!)

Jarrod while Grant nods in TOTAL agreement:  “…like somebody that that that slight bit of anxiety or paranoia or feeling, whatever you want to call it [Grant, “walking into a cage with a dog”] that edge that little bit of edge is required to get people to produce.
2 ways to get the uneasy feeling and develop the muscle:
  • Do new stuff you’re not comfortable with
  • Perform stuff that’s “below your pay grade” that’s mundane and tough at the highest level

Frugal will get you to certain place and then it traps you

Production > Saving.  BUT don’t have more going out than what’s coming in.  Handle that then produce.  Require discipline that a lot of people don’t have.  Discipline first, produce like crazy second, third thing is put the production into assets that are going to pay you forever.

^^^Recipe for real freedom?^^^

[Exercise #5:  When you’re 80 and you look back over your life, what will you be most proud of as a business person?]

“I know I’ve underestimated what could happen the whole time”

How you’ll know you’re on purpose:  Look at what you’re doing now.  Is your why/purpose so big that whether or not you win or lose, someone gives your 10 million or takes it all away, you’re still showing up tomorrow.

How to know if you’re a slave:

When you’re doing it just to pay the bills.  Doesn’t matter whether it’s a million dollars a year or 70 thousand bucks a year.  When you’re just paying bills, when that’s your only motivation…  Slave.

Grant Cardone Net Worth 2020:  Don’t Hate Up.  Look Up and Work Up

Let the haters hate:  “It’s good for us – because when they’re doing that they can’t be creating on their own game.  You can’t [reach for your true potential] while talking about me at the same time.”

Canelo Alvarez next fight: Golden Boy Promotions offer Billy Joe Saunders £6m to face Mexican in Las Vegas on May 2 – reports

Canelo Alvarez next fight: Golden Boy Promotions offer Billy Joe Saunders £6m to face Mexican in Las Vegas on May 2 – reports

Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez will face Billy Joe Saunders on May 2 after the Mexican’s promoters increased their offer to the Brit, according to reports.

Golden Boy Promotions have reportedly offered Saunders $7.75million (£6m) to put his WBO super-middleweight title on the line, with a deal reportedly nearing completion.

Four-weight world champion Canelo Alvarez will reportedly sign to face Billy Joe Saunders

Tom Hogan – Hogan Photos/Golden Boy

This means WBA ‘Super’ and Ring Magazine super-middleweight champion Callum Smith will be forced to look elsewhere as he targets legacy-defining fights at 168lbs.

According to Mike Coppinger of The Athletic, a deal is now nearing completion for Saunders to take on the Mexican on Cinco de Mayo weekend.

The 30-year-old has clamoured for a fight of this magnitude since winning the WBO belt at middleweight in 2015, targeting Canelo and Gennady Golovkin. In the summer of 2019, he confirmed he had left Frank Warren and Queensberry Promotions in the hope of fighting either Canelo or Golovkin – with both men fighting on streaming service DAZN.

However, it seems as though he will finally get his opportunity to take on one of the very best pound-for-pound boxers on the planet, perhaps justifying his decision to link up with Eddie Hearn.

Saunders defended his WBO super-middleweight title on the KSI vs Logan Paul undercard

Ed Mulholland/Matchroom

It does mean fellow Matchroom Boxing fighter Smith must look elsewhere for an opponent, with unification fights now surely a priority.

Since dethroning George Groves in the final of the World Boxing Super Series in 2018, Smith has campaigned for fights against the very best in the world at super-middleweight.

With fellow champions Caleb Plant and David Benavidez seemingly set to fight one another to unify the division, the choices on offer to the 29-year-old seem to be limited.

Either he waits for a world title fight at his natural weight, or moves up to take on the killers at light-heavyweight.

The problem with that strategy is that the more lucrative fights are at 168lbs, with options in the division above seemingly more dangerous and less lucrative to a fighter in his prime such as ‘Mundo’.

After an unconvincing victory against mandatory contender John Ryder towards the end of last year, the Liverpudlian will surely be watching Canelo vs Saunders with bated breath as he awaits the winner.

Inside Bloomberg’s bid to corner the OTT business news market as streaming wars intensify | The Drum

As Michael Bloomberg’s campaign to win the Democratic nomination and oust Donald Trump from the White House is taking off, his Bloomberg media empire is separately planning to become a major player in the video streaming wars.

In a two-pronged push, Bloomberg Media, the mogul’s eponymous finance, data and media empire, is looking to put business programming at the heart of the streaming revolution through its new Bloomberg TV+ digital service and QuickTake by Bloomberg, a digital channel focused at a young business audience. QuickTake, which began life on social media, will launch as a streaming service early this year.

The former mayor of New York’s political and business ambitions are distinct. Bloomberg media channels are not doing investigations into either their owner or any of his rivals in the race for the Democratic nomination (although it is providing general coverage of all candidates). Bloomberg would sell his business if elected president (although it’s not currently for sale).

Wilder vs Fury 2 PPV buys estimated between 800-850k in North America, eclipsing Lewis vs Tyson in 2002 but falling short of Bob Arum’s hopes

Wilder vs Fury 2 PPV buys estimated between 800-850k in North America, eclipsing Lewis vs Tyson in 2002 but falling short of Bob Arum’s hopes

Tyson Fury’s victory over Deontay Wilder on Saturday night was watched by an audience of between 800,000-850,000 paying customers in North America, according to reports.

If these figures prove to be accurate, the main event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena would have generated between $64m-$68million just through American PPV alone.

Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder will get handsomely paid for their efforts on Saturday night

The ‘Gypsy King’ officially reclaimed his throne in Las Vegas by toppling long-standing WBC champion Wilder via seventh-round stoppage.

Despite hopes from Top Rank supremo Bob Arum, who said he would be ‘disappointed’ if PPV buys in the US was less than two million, it appears as though the official number will fall just short of one million.

According to The Athletic (as verified by Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix) the official figures will land in the region of 800,000-850,000 buys.

Privately, the senior figures of ESPN and Fox Sports hoped to achieve around 1 to 1.1 million PPV buys to just break even.

The Gypsy King dropped Wilder

However, they can take some solace in the fact the ESPN+ and Fox Sports apps over performed, while traditional cable did not.

The PPV figure was $79.99 in America, meaning 800k buys would equal roughly $64m. And if it is closer to the 850k mark, this equals around $68m.

Both fighters were reportedly set to pocket $25m each from the fight, regardless of PPV figures and would then get a percentage of the total accrued later on.

Walmart in discussions to sell their stake in Asda

Walmart in discussions to sell the stake in Asda

Walmart says it could sell a majority stake in Asda, its UK supermarket, after “incoming interest” in the idea.

The US retail giant said it spoke to a “small number of stakeholders” about a possible investment.

It comes after UK regulators blocked Walmart’s plan to merge Asda with Sainsbury last year for fear that it would raise prices for consumers.

Walmart said it would likely keep a stake in Asda if the plan goes ahead.

“No decisions have been made and we will not comment on these discussions further,” he said.

“If or when we decide to pursue this opportunity further, our first priority will be to share more detailed information with our colleagues.”

Walmart purchased Yorkshire-based Asda in 1999. The company is among the top three UK supermarkets, with an estimated 15% of the market.

However, in recent years, it has seen competition from low-priced German competitors such as Aldi and Lidl increase.

“Clear strategy”

After regulators blocked the Sainsbury merger, Walmart said it was considering a stock exchange listing for Asda.

On Wednesday, the company said it remained “an attractive long-term goal”.

“Asda is a large company with a clear strategy for the future and Walmart is committed to ensuring that it has the resources and support it needs to accomplish this strategy,” Walmart said in a statement.

Walmart has reviewed its international strategy in recent years, downsizing its business in countries such as Brazil and collaborating with local companies in the markets in which it sees growth.

In 2018, it acquired a majority stake in the Indian online retailer, Flipkart. He also has collaborations with the Chinese JD.com and the Japanese Rakuten.

“Walmart has a clear international strategy around” strong local businesses, powered by Walmart “, which involves a number of different proprietary agreements, depending on the needs of its different markets,” said the company.

A potential third-party investment in Asda would be intended to “support and accelerate the implementation of Asda’s strategy and position Asda for long-term success,” he said.

John Colley, associate dean of Warwick Business School, said: “Having put all their hopes into a merger with Sainsbury’s, Asda’s bosses struggled to find a plan B for the company.

“The company is clearly not desired by Walmart, which is faced with greater challenges such as Amazon’s threat.”

He said that a flotation had “always seemed unlikely”, but the idea suggested that Walmart had “struggled to find potential buyers at a price he found attractive”.

Deontay Wilder blames Tyson Fury defeat on ring walk COSTUME as he triggers rematch clause

Deontay Wilder blames Tyson Fury defeat on ring walk COSTUME as he triggers rematch clause.

  • Deontay Wilder lost his WBC heavyweight title to Tyson Fury on Saturday night
  • American was outclassed with his team throwing in the towel in round seven
  • He claims his 45-pound ring walk outfit played a significant role in the defeat
  • The former champion has also activated his rematch clause for a summer trilogy

Deontay Wilder has laughably claimed the weight of his ring walk costume played a big role in his defeat by Tyson Fury – as he confirmed he will be triggering his rematch clause.

The American wore a black and red armoured body suit with a matching mask and crown as he made his way to the squared circle for his second bout with Fury at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

JP Morgan economists warn of ‘catastrophic’ climate change 🌍💼📰

JP Morgan economists warn of ‘catastrophic’ climate change – Human life “as we know it” could be threatened by climate change, economists at JP Morgan have warned.

In a hard-hitting report to clients, the economists said that without action being taken there could be “catastrophic outcomes”.

The bank said the research came from a team that was “wholly independent from the company as a whole”.

Climate campaigners have previously criticised JP Morgan for its investments in fossil fuels.

The firm’s stark report was sent to clients and seen by BBC News.

While JP Morgan economists have warned about unpredictability in climate change before, the language used in the new report was very forceful.

“We cannot rule out catastrophic outcomes where human life as we know it is threatened,” JP Morgan economists David Mackie and Jessica Murray said.

Carbon emissions in the coming decades “will continue to affect the climate for centuries to come in a way that is likely to be irreversible,” they said, adding that climate change action should be motivated “by the likelihood of extreme events”.

Climate change could affect economic growth, shares, health, and how long people live, they said.

It could put stresses on water, cause famine, and cause people to be displaced or migrate. Climate change could also cause political stress, conflict, and it could hit biodiversity and species survival, the report warned.

To mitigate climate change net carbon emissions need to be cut to zero by 2050. To do this, there needed to be a global tax on carbon, the report authors said.

But they said that “this is not going to happen anytime soon”.

Developed countries were worried that cutting emissions would affect competitiveness and jobs, while less developed countries “see carbon intensive activity as a way of raising living standards.”

“It is a global problem but no global solution is in sight,” the report added.

Deontay Wilder hit out at Anthony Joshua on the eve of his showdown with Tyson Fury in Las Vegas. The WBC champion’s highly anticipated rematch with Fury is being billed as the unofficial clash to become the No.1 heavyweight in the division.

Joshua has insisted he wants to make an offer to the winner to stage an undisputed unification fight before the end of the year, but Wilder slammed his British rival for ducking him.‘Stop running from AJ?

I ain’t even going to comment on that on,’ Wilder said on Instagram on Friday night.‘Dude ain’t even talked about over here anymore. He’s off in the wind right now. As he should. He don’t want to fight nobody, bro.‘A lot of people ask me why haven’t I unified? All the other guys that had belts, what they do?‘They run somewhere else.

They run to an easy opponent. They won’t risk it.‘When you’ve got a guy with power in the heavyweight division and the division is based off power, I’m going to be the guy they least want to fight.Fight fans are struggling to pick a winner (Picture: Getty)‘They’re going to be a lot jugheads that call my name our, but they ain’t trying to fight me.’While Wilder is fed up with Joshua, the three-belt world champion is backing Fury to come out victorious in the rematch.‘I think Fury wins,’ Joshua predicted. ‘A man who nearly done it the first time won’t get it wrong the second time.’

Tyson Fury confirms he sustained injury at start of training camp ahead of Deontay Wilder rematch 🇬🇧🥊📰

Tyson Fury V Deontay Wilder update…

Tyson Fury confirms he sustained injury at start of training camp ahead of Deontay Wilder rematch

The Gypsy King is adamant his leg problems will not affect him on Saturday night.

Tyson Fury has confirmed that he did suffer an injury at the start of his training camp ahead of facing Deontay Wilder but insists it will not impact him on fight night.

The Gypsy King takes on WBC heavyweight champion Wilder at the MGM Grand on Saturday night in Las Vegas, though the build-up has been plagued by rumours of issues in Fury’s training camp.

Anthony Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, claimed he had ‘heard a few things in the camp’ that had prompted him to change his prediction for the fight from Fury to Wilder.

Wilder and Fury clashed at their press conference on Wednesday evening (Picture: Reuters)

While the lineal champ has rubbished the speculation, calling Hearn a ‘w*nker’, he has confirmed that he picked up an injury at the start of his camp – which might have been the issue Hearn had alluded to.

Fury was spotted with what appeared to be a limp when he attended Conor McGregor’s UFC fight against Cowboy Cerrone on January 18, and while he did hurt his legs he is adamant it is not a major problem.

Asked about the rumours that he had picked up an injury during his camp, Fury told reporters: ‘Unfortunately I hurt both legs, and both ankles, in the training camp.

‘But it’s not going to affect me in the fight because that was at the beginning of camp. It was an unnecessary accident, but, you know, things happen.’
