After heading in at half time 4-0 up and adding a fifth goal early in the second half, Liverpool destroyed Man Utd at Old Trafford to leave Manager, Ollie on the brink of being fired.
The fifth goal by Mo Salah, finishing off his hat-trick, might well have been a final nail in the coffin for Ollie and that is yet to be seen. In scoring today’s hat-trick Mo Salah becomes the highest scoring Premier League African player of all time and today’s hat-trick was his fourth in the Premier Leage.
Liverpool now climb back up to second at the top of the Premier League table, one behind leader Chelsea and are now already 7 points ahead of their bitter rivals with only just 9 matches played.
Ronaldo almost scored a consolation goal to give some level of respect to the game but that was disallowed due to a VAR offside decision.
The game was like a men v boys game and seen a disorganised Man Utd defence in 6’s and 7’s as Liverpool one touched pass there way straight through the heart of the defence on several occasions and it could have been a lot more had Liverpool not shown mercy and took their foot off the gas for most of the second half after the fifth goal had gone in, Ronaldo’ goal was chalked off and Paul Pogba had been sent off after only just coming on for 15 minutes for a terrible two footed talk that saw Naby Keita injured for the match and taken off on a stretcher.
Ronaldo was also lucky to only get a yellow after taking some of his frustration out on young Curtis Jones just before the half time break and many of the Man Utd players ended on yellow cards after many showed their frustrations with bad or late tackles throughout the game.
In addition to Keita going off, the only other downside in what was a history victor for Liverpool, was the early retirement of James Milner when he seemed to tear a ligament after a slip or over exertion early in the first half.
