Wellness and Floatation expert Vivian McKinnon set up Hydro-ease, Northern Irelands only dedicated floatation centre, in September 2015. She established the business in response to her own traumatic experiences after a chance introduction to floatation in her native Scotland and a passion for helping people move away from pain and towards a life of fulfilment.

The idea to open a healing centre came about during her first float in Edinburgh in 2004 where Vivian knew instantly this ‘strange and a bit different therapy’ could help other people; especially those living from addictions, physical and mental pain. In that moment, Vivian’s life purpose became clear. She now dedicates herself to helping people heal from the pain of their past.

Qualified and experienced in Havening techniques, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Timeline Therapy, Clinical Hypnosis, SPECTRUM Coaching, Laughter Yoga and auricular acupuncture. Vivian is also the Northern Ireland Coordinator for SMART Recovery UK, a trainer for the Health Care Trust and a Multi Award-winning International Public Speaker.

Her experience as a unique and dynamic change-work specialist spans over almost 3 decades. It is her belief ‘there is magic within us all to heal and change’. Vivian is an effective and experienced, inspirational and creative therapeutic practitioner with an interest in the latest approaches in neuroscience and epigenetics.

Through the process of post-traumatic growth, Vivian is thriving and living out her mission of ‘healing the world, one float at a time.

The Lockdown Choice

The Lockdown Choice – A Coronavirus Poem

When in Lockdown over Coronavirus,

we need to search down deep inside us.

We need to decide to live in so much fear,

Or learn to let that fear disappear!

Those in fear will panic and moan,

over eat, stay unhealthy and stay stuck all alone.

Whilst those that are optimistic, happy & positive,

will learn new things, stay healthy and choose to still live.

You can’t manage things beyond your control,

But you can choose your response, so make positive your goal!

Avoid negative people and negative press,

And anything else that will add to your stress.

Be thankful for the extra time and leisure,

And for doing more things that gives you some pleasure.

The Lockdown won’t last for too long,

Then life will continue, the show will go on.

Hopefully you will heed my advice,

Decide to enjoy Lockdown and make it quite nice.

Another Coronavirus Poem – The Upside of Coronavirus!

The Upside of Coronavirus- #CoronavirusUpside

After weeks in total Lockdown, we’ve had plenty of time to reflect…

On all our real values, and what we can affect.

Lots of things in life are outside of our control!

But staying connected with loved ones, has to be our goal.

When the going gets tough, the tough get going,

we need to thank our front line staff, by ways that keep on showing.

We can get through any crisis when we stand strong together,

It not just now that we’ve proved that, it’s been like that forever!

So use this time to reconnect with all the people you did forget.

Learn lots of new things and have some fun, take your hours exercise and get out in the sun.

It won’t be long until Lockdown’s over and normal will return.

But hopefully much better know, with what we did all learn!

Positive Coronavirus News as Queen Gives Rallying Speach…

Image copyrightPA MEDIA

People in Leicester watch the Queen deliver her address

Image captionPeople across the UK gathered to watch the Queen’s address

There have been difficult royal speeches and addresses in the past – times when the wrong word or the wrong phrase could have undermined the message or let slip a critical opportunity.

The broadcast after the death of Diana, Princess of Wales in 1997 for example, or the speech the Queen gave on her visit to Ireland in 2011.

The Palace could have played it safe, stressed unity and given thanks. It would have served.

This was a different and much more ambitious broadcast, designed to reassure and to inspire.

But most of all to recast the coronavirus crisis as a defining moment for a nation which will forever remember its collective effort to save the lives of its vulnerable.

Given the number of Second World War metaphors and comparisons that are around at the moment – a war the Queen remembers well – the temptation might have been to draw parallels to that conflict.

But the only direct reference was to her first ever radio broadcast, in 1940, when the Queen – then a young princess – and her sister Margaret, spoke to children who had been evacuated.

The Queen:

Video captionThe Queen: “We will be with our friends again, we will be with our families again, we will meet again”

It was a reminder, not just of the innocence of childhood and of the sacrifices of an earlier generation, but of her long perspective on Britain’s history.

Echoes of that struggle of the 1940s, which for so long defined Britain and its self-image, ran through the broadcast.

Winston Churchill said, after the fall of France in 1940, that even after a thousand years it would still be said of Britons that “this was their finest hour”.

Today the Queen spoke of how history would judge the nation – that “those that come after us will say the Britons of this generation were as strong as any”.

“The pride in who we are is not part of our past,” she said, “it defines our present and our future”.

The Queen did not revert to talk of Blitz spirit; instead she celebrated the communal feeling that exists today.

The applause for care and essential workers she said is “an expression of our national spirit” and “its symbol will be the rainbows drawn by children”.

There was no talk of fighting, of struggle, of conflict. Instead she spoke of more peaceful national traits – “self-discipline”, “quiet, good-humoured resolve” and “fellow-feeling”.

Prince Charles

Image captionThe Queen’s eldest son, Prince Charles, spent seven days in isolation after testing positive for coronavirus

This was not a warrior-queen’s speech; it was about collective effort.

“Together we are tackling this disease,” she said. “If we remain united and resolute, then we will overcome it.”

“We will succeed,” she insisted, “and that success will belong to each and every one of us”.

There was time for some great-grandmotherly wisdom; she, who occupies an often lonely position, offered her thoughts to those who are now alone though self-isolation.

Banner image reading 'more about coronavirus'

Banner

Hard times, she acknowledged, but also perhaps an opportunity “to slow down, pause and reflect, in prayer or meditation”.

And at the end, one more echo of the conflict that so often this crisis has been compared to. The defining song of the Second World War was for many Vera Lynn’s We’ll Meet Again – a longing for better times to come.

“Better days will return,” said the Queen. “We will be with our friends again; we will be with our families again; we will meet again.”

Recruitment drive for NHS volunteers stopped now as levels reach 750,000…

The NHS drove for volunteers have reached their target just two days after it was extended, the Royal Voluntary Service announced today.

The recruitment drive has been such an overwhelming success that it has now been temporarily paused to allow the charity to process the torrent of applicants and work with the NHS to get the volunteer army up and running.

Those who registered will be helping the health service perform ‘vital roles’ that will allow people to comply with strict government advice on self isolation and social distancing.

Community response volunteers will collect and deliver shopping, medication or ‘other essential supplies’ for people under isolation.
