Welsh Business News/ WelshBiz – Marco Pierre White looking to open a restaurant in Swansea later in the year…

One of the country’s most famous chefs is to open a new restaurant in Swansea.

The Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill will open at The J-Shed in the popular SA1 area of the city and is expected to start welcoming guests in the early summer.

Credit: Wikipedia/Unknown

Regarded by many to be the greatest ever UK chef, the famed restaurateur has led the UK gastronomy scene for over 30 years and is regarded by many to have single-handedly dragged it to being at the forefront of modern cooking.

Having helped kick-start the careers of many famous chefs including Gordon Ramsay, Heston Blumenthal and Jason Atherton, all of whom trained under him, he has now confirmed that his latest restaurant will be at the popular waterside location which has undergone a renaissance in recent years.

Famed for his no-nonsense approach, he is looking forward to bringing his own brand of dining to the city with the restaurant comprising everything you would expect from a traditional steakhouse but with the superior quality synonymous from someone of his reputation.

The new Steakhouse Bar & Grill will replace what was La Parrilla which closed in January and follows a deal between business partners Steve Lewis and David Bellis who have acquired the property, and Black and White Hospitality, which is the franchising arm of Pierre White’s restaurants.

Bringing to life Marco’s own philosophy of what he describes as ‘affordable glamour’, the Steakhouse Bar & Grill’s exciting and dining experience includes signature steaks, and timeless English and French classics.

The menu is exclusively curated by Marco himself and includes a mix of childhood favourites and modern-day delicacies. The restaurant will also serve a delicious range of cocktails that are perfectly matched to the venue’s waterside location which will boast outside seating area.

The team has now started work on getting the new venue ready to open later in the year in line with the high expectations of today’s business and leisure guests.

Steve Lewis said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be working alongside Black & White Hospitality on this exciting restaurant and bar scheme; this is great news for the city and is fantastic news for the regeneration of the area.

“It’s a hugely exciting addition that will, we believe, offer a first-class drinking and dining experience and is perfect for this stunning waterside location.”

David added: “The arrival of Marco’s steakhouse will further reinforce Swansea as an up and coming food and drink destination, raising the bar once more in terms of what people can come to expect at hospitality venues in the city. We look forward to welcoming guests when it opens early summer.

I have been heavily involved in hospitality in this area and South Wales since early 2017 and the passion for great food and drink is just continuing to grow. With the appetite for this style of bar and food collaboration ever increasing, this opportunity is one that greatly excites my business partner Steve and I.

“I’d also like to thank Leader of Swansea Council Rob Stewart who has been very supportive in helping us bring this well known brand to the city. Years ago Rob and I met and talked passionately about the regeneration of the waterside and this deal is another piece of the jigsaw that will help make Swansea a fantastic destination for both business and leisure. It’s great to see forecasted investment and regeneration coming to fruition and I hope that it encourages others to further invest into Swansea city.”

Leader of Swansea Council, Rob Stewart said:

“I’m hugely excited that Marco Pierre White will be bringing a fantastic dining experience to Swansea. Our city is seeing huge investment and regeneration at present including our new Digital arena complex, helping us become a wonderful new 21st Century destination. I want to pay tribute to David and Steve for their work in helping regenerate Swansea’s hospitality experience and for bringing the brand to Swansea. I’m sure it will be a huge success and is a welcome addition to our city”

Nick Taplin, Chairman and CEO of Black and White Hospitality added:
“This is fantastic news for Swansea and will be Marco’s second restaurant in Wales. The Steakhouse fits perfectly with The J-Shed and will help to attract more people to enjoy food and drink on Swansea’s burgeoning waterside. This is an amazing opportunity for everyone and we look forward to our second but not last restaurant in Wales.”

Absolutely not. You need no previous experience whatsoever in sales or websites/marketing. All you need is an upbeat, friendly attitude and a good work ethic. The rest is given to you by us, including full training and ongoing support.

About the franchise

Things To Do In Is a unique, local online business advertising directory which was set up in late 2013, the idea came about because we owned a children’s zoo in Clacton on sea and had decided to research how our customers had found us.

So we asked all of our customers how they had heard about our zoo and they would answer, seen the sign outside, been before, local, recommended etc,

but we soon noticed that around 70% of all customers had ticked the internet section so we then started asking everyone who said internet what search term they had entered and to our surprise 90% of these customers said oh we just typed in “things to do in Clacton” and when we entered this on Google this just brought up trip-advisor and days out with the kids.

There was no things to do in Clacton and so we bought this site and soon realised it was available in most towns throughout the UK and so the idea was born and it was amazing that it had not been bought before considering it’s the most searched term out there for anyone looking for something to do in a town or wanting to know what’s happening in their own town.

Things to do in was started as an attraction based business as the name implies, but it has now evolved into a unique local online business advertising directory, in fact almost all businesses that have joined us owe their first page ranking solely to the fact that they have their business advertised on our sites.

How will I get work?

There are many ways of getting work which equates to adding companies to our “Things To Do In sites”.

One of the great things about this Franchise is if you are not feeling a 100% you can email companies direct from home to set up appointments or better still, call companies and get meetings set up.

If you want to get out and about (which is the best way of getting new businesses on board) then you can go out and meet with companies. We have found this to be the most productive and enjoyable way of meeting new business owners and is a fantastic way of getting new businesses on board. When you tell them what we offer and for the price we offer it for, you will the fantastic response and the many businesses that join.

You can also go to networking groups or business shows. There are no limits to the way you can add companies and make some great friends along the way.

You can work the hours that suits your lifestyle. No more being tied to a desk or stuck in a factory. Being your own boss but with all the support you will ever need and make some great friends along the way.

What areas can I work in?

You can pick the area that suits you best if it’s still available. Most franchisees will pick their own local area to save on travelling costs and time and the fact being you may know many company owners already. But there is nothing to stop you owning two or more areas. We try to make each area that we franchise have 2,500 businesses.

We would expect you to earn over £50,000 with very low outgoingsand in excess of £100,000 in year 2.
What are we looking for in a potential franchisee

We are looking for a people’s person, who likes talking to and meeting people, if you have sales and some internet experience then great but if not we will give you full training in both fields.
What will this cost me?

The cost of this Franchise is £9,950
What are you waiting for?

This asking price offer is for a limited time only whilst we are building our brand Nationally. Contact us today to speak to one of our friendly advisors to see if your area is available and find out more about this exciting opportunity.

Scotland hosts fifth international festival for public relations professionals – Scottish Business News

TODAY, PRFest, the world’s only festival dedicated to the public relations profession, has launched its first tranche of tickets, a brand new format and an international line-up for its event on Thursday, 18 June in Edinburgh. Public Relations and Communication Association (PRCA) has also confirmed its support.

Founder Laura Sutherland, a Chartered PR practitioner and crisis PR expert, from Glasgow, said: “I have spent time considering PRFest and what it means to those who come every year, from across the UK and beyond. I’ve also visited other events across the world in order to research content, format and best practice. I want to retain the intimacy of the event, but we need more conversation, sharing and action, underlining the value that public relations adds to organisations and this year, looking at purpose as our core theme.”

The first keynote announced is Alex Myers, founder and CEO of Manifest, an independent brand communications agency with offices in London, New York, Stockholm and Manchester. As well as coordinating Manifest’s operational growth, Alex has led creative communications strategies for brands as diverse as Virgin, BrewDog, Samsung and Help for Refugees.

Alex’s session “Building a creative process fit for the purpose economy”, will be followed by a second international speaker, Mary Beth West, a senior strategist from Maryville, Tennessee, who will host a conversation about “Waging ethics battles for positive outcomes”, reinforcing the ethical role public relations has and should play within an organisation.

PRFest will also focus on PR professionals as individuals, introducing elements of the programme including wellbeing and personal finance. Further programme announcements will be published on on 13th March and 1st May, timed with next level tickets being released.

Francis Ingham, director general of long-time PRFest partner, PRCA, said: “We’re excited to support and come along to PRFest once again on 18th June in Edinburgh. The event offers a fresh approach to out-of-office learning and has a richly deserved reputation for sharing intelligent thinking on the latest PR trends.”

“PRFest offers communication professionals the perfect opportunity to get away from London and other cities, and network with colleagues from across the UK and beyond.”

Added benefits this year include a free PRFest headshot for all ticket buyers and a buddy system for people new to PRFest. The annual influencer dinner, a let-your-hair-down opportunity for speakers, sponsors and attendees, will take place on the evening of the event.

Global tech investors lined up for EIE20 in Edinburgh – Scottish Business News

HOMEGROWN entrepreneurial talent and global tech investors are among those to feature at this year’s EIE20 in Edinburgh.

EIE is an all-year round investor readiness programme run by Informatics Ventures and highlighted by Scotland’s leading tech investor event where 50 ambitious data-driven startup to scale-up companies pitch to investors from Scotland, the UK and around the world for seed to series A funding.  This year’s EIE returns to the University of Edinburgh’s McEwan Hall on Thursday 23d April.

Michael Welch OBE, who sold online tyre retailer to Michelin for almost £100 million in 2015, will share his thoughts with attendees on his experience of taking an early stage venture through the startup stage to a successful exit to a multinational.  Welch, who is also the founder of Edinburgh-based fashion site is currently splitting his time between Edinburgh and Miami from where he recently launched, an online tyre retail site aimed at the US market.

Mike Welch said: “Launching a startup is not for the faint hearted. The setbacks, stress and isolation are enough to put most off! But if you get it right, the rewards, in more than just monetary terms, can be so much greater than that achievable from a ‘normal’ job.

“A big part of getting it right is choosing a group of investors that you can develop a working relationship with. But getting the right investors on board is a tricky process and can make or break early stage companies.  It can also be a distraction for the leadership team that can take people away from the main task in hand – making sales and growing the company.  It’s great that the Informatics Ventures team and EIE provide a format that can help navigate founders through that minefield’.

On the investor side, IBM Ventures, Silicon Valley Bank and Octopus Ventures will join EIE20’s investor panel.  Deborah Magid, Director, IBM Ventures said: “I have coming to EIE every year since the very beginning when it was still a small event.  I was introduced to EIE by the person at IBM who handled our relationships with academia.  It’s now so popular that people come from all over the world!  There is a reason I come back every year – everything about the event is extremely well done, for the way they coach the companies, right down to the small details.”

Informatics Ventures will be announcing further keynotes, featured investors, partners and sponsors in the run-up to EIE20.  The team is also surveying its 500-plus alumnus companies for the latest edition of its Scottish Startup Survey, findings of which will be released in advance of EIE20.

McEvaddy brothers vow to continue to back Irish aviation business

McEvaddy brothers vow to continue to back Irish aviation business

Aviation entrepreneurs, the McEvaddy brothers, pledged to continue supporting their Irish business at the end of 2018 when it was almost €7.2 million in the red, new figures show.

Accounts just filed by Ulick and Desmond McEvaddy’s Omega Aviation Services show that it earned a profit of €5,525 in the 12 months ended December 31st 2018 but liabilities exceeded its assets by €7.2 million.

The accounts state that the directors, the McEvaddy brothers, confirmed that they would continue to support the company.

Auditor Richard Twomey of Richard Ensor & Co noted noted that there were a number of conditions that cast significant doubt on whether the company could continue as a going concern without the brothers’ support.

Exposed to coronavirus: How Irish business is coping with fallout

Exposed to coronavirus: How Irish business is coping with fallout

Dublin-based entrepreneur Maurice Healy says nobody from his “crew” in China has returned to work yet after the extended holiday for the lunar new year.

Movements of people and workers has been severely curtailed in China as authorities attempt to stem the contagion from the coronavirus that has resulted in more than 2,000 deaths and left almost half the population living under some form of travel restriction.

Healy Group imports about €15 million worth of vitamins and other ingredients for pharmaceutical and nutritional products every year for use by its manufacturing clients across the globe. China is one of the biggest manufacturers of raw materials that go into vitamin C supplements.

Traditionally, it is the first week of March before full production returns in China due to the lunar year holiday period, but the extended break due to the virus and ongoing restrictions on travel and movement of people have knocked out schedules this year.

“I doubt I will be taking any materials of any significant amount in the coming weeks,” says Healy, who is still trying to assess when things might return to normal. “I wish to God I could tell. There is no certainty from the conversations I have been having and I am having those conversations two or three or four times a day.”

Our plants right now are back working, but probably working at 30 per cent of capacity

With the level of recorded cases of the infection now at over 75,000, almost 99 per cent of which are in China, companies across the world are desperately working out their exposure to the fallout as the virus disrupts supply chains, manufacturing plants, and business and consumer demand in the world’s most populous nation, an engine of global growth.

This week alone has seen tech giant Apple warn about how the outbreak is hurting business in China more than previously thought; Adidas and Puma reveal how production and demand for their German sportswear have taken a hit in Asia; Jaguar Land Rover resort to having car parts flown from China to the UK in suitcases as supplies dwindle; and Beijing reportedly weigh measures such as direct cash infusions and mergers to rescue some of its airlines as the industry has been virtually paralysed.

Some highlights from the @GrantCardone #10xUKTour In London, UK 🇬🇧…

The 10xUKTour, a Grant Cardone Entrepreneur Training Event put on by PMW & Thrive Assets In London on Friday and Saturday, at the 02 Intercontinental Hotel, was awesome! 👌

It was great to see so many UK and European Entrepreneurs all in one room, all there as they wanted to learn from a Sales & Marketing master and uncle GC didn’t let anyone down!

Grant Cardone In London, UK

The Leading US Sales Trainer and Marketing Entrepreneur gave the audience of approx 2,000, lots of great sales & marketing advice as well as great investment advice about what to do with your money once you have made it!

The top US Sales & Marketing Trainer and Business Entrepreneur was joined by many other top Entrepreneurs including his Wife Elena Cardone as well as the people responsible for bringing Grant Cardone to the UK for the #10xUKTour 🇬🇧, Paul McFadden and Billy Farrell from PMW, Matt Soltys from Thrive Assets, Mark Wright from Climb Online and the Apprentice TV series and our very own leading Welsh Entrepreneurs, Paul & Tracey from Introbiz.

Former Apprentice Winner & Current ClimbOnline Managing Director Mark Wright at the 10x UK Tour 🇬🇧

Mark Wright hosted and competed the two day business seminar and entrepreneur event and done a magnificent job. As well as sharing his insights on business, the apprentice, working with Lord Sugar and building a successful, post Apprentice, business. Mark Wright also shared lots of useful digital marketing tips and advice.

This included using schedulers for social scheduling, implementing chatbots in your business, doing lots of social media marketing, especially video marketing on Youtube and “Lives” on Facebook and more importantly these days Instagram.

Billy Farrell from Paul McFadden Wealth (PMW)

Day one also witnessed a great inspiring speech by Billy Farrell from Event hosts PMW about how he turned his life around from a dark spot in his younger days to where he is now.

There was no mistaking who was star of the show though as Uncle GC delivered the majority of the content over the two days, starting of in the morning of day one, on finances and trying to get people to break down the limiting mindsets that stop people from being successful.

Grant Cardone then finished off day one with his tips, advice and training on marketing, and how to get noticed – #HEY!

Grant demonstrated “going lives” and other real time Social Media post and gave great insights like having a great content strategy, “Quantity over Quality” and being an all platforms (advice I too subscribe to and give to others as well)!

Day two kicked off with Mark Wright interviewing one of the Stars of the show Elena Cardone…

Elena gave some great advice on being an Entrepreneurs Wife, an Entrepreneurial mum and an amazing women!

She also talk about her new book which Grant helped her to finish, with the encouragement that she was being “lazy and cowardly” when she struggled to complete the book part way through.

Elena Cardone also discussed and inspired the audience on topics such as supporting an Entrepreneur to achieve rather than putting pressure or the breaks on, and using hired help to do the mundane tasks that need to be completed, so that time can be better invested in work or family time.

From the sounds of its description, during the chat, I would highly recommend Entrepreneurs and the women married to Entrepreneurs to buy and read her book! 📚

Paul McFadden of Paul McFadden Wealth (PMW)…

Day 2 saw one of the hosts Paul McFadden from PMW give an inspiring and knowledgeable talk on investing in the property business and how to start off making introducer deals, rather than building your own property portfolio until you get to understand the property world better, something that can be achieved without any wealth to begin with.

The softly spoken but highly engaging Scottish Property Entrepreneur explained how he could help people follow in his property wealth building footsteps by engaging with him in his property training courses.

Grant Cardone’s sales training…

The 2day 10x UK Tour 🇬🇧 event for Business Entrepreneurs finished off with more from Uncle G, where he went more in depth on sales routines and practices to follow in order to become a better sales person and business entrepreneur.

Although Grant Cardone sold a number of times throughout the event it was not the typical “Sales Event” to get people in to a room in order to sell you something and the sales & marketing tips and advice were genuine and delivered by a genuine and authentic master of the art of getting noticed (marketing) and getting business (selling)!

“All in all this was a great event for Entrepreneurs…”

Serena, the unexpected star of the show 🌟

There was one unexpected star of the show that needed a special mention and that was Serena.

Serena managed to hustle the room for £450 by running 18 laps of the venue, taking over from another lad who was promised £100 if he done 20 laps but gave up after only two very exhausting laps.

Serena boldly stepped in to complete the task and did so to a rapturous applause 👏 and the rapid donation of various paper bills in a variety of denominations which was later accrued to be worth £450.

Serena was letter shown a valuable business lesson when having to split her win fall with the young lad who introduced the deal in the first place, and the house “who always gets its cut” but still it was a great windfall for the budding Entrepreneur.

MA Consultancy / WelshBiz / Things To Do In Cardiff at the #10xuktour Event

I had a great time at the event along with Gavin from 123 Divorce!

Roll on #IntrobizExpo this Thursday when we get to do it all again and more (this time also joined by Lord Sugar)!
